Vespel/graphite ferrules will shrink slightly when they have been exposed to a number of heating cycles. This shrinkage can allow connections that have previously been tested as leak free to start to leak, and such connections need to be retested and retightened as appropriate.
Preconditioned ferrules have been preshrunk to prevent this issue from occurring.
