How do you pretreat beeswax?

Beeswax is made of long chain fatty acid esters and hydrocarbons.  The best way to work with this sample matrix is by homogenization in hexane.  The resulting hexane extract can undergo a normal phase solid phase extraction cleanup method using a sorbent such as Strata EPH or Strata NH2.
