Sugars are unlikely to retain in SPE sorbents because they are extremely water soluble. While an extraction method is not possible, a non-retentive SPE method can be employed as a cleanup method to remove matrix interferences that can be extracted by SPE sorbents. This strategy works well for difficult matrices such as fruit juices, protein shakes, wines, etc.
Is it possible to do SPE for sugar analysis?
