Why is SPE more selective than liquid-liquid extraction (LLE)?

Unlike LLE, in which an immiscible solvent must be used to extract analytes, any preferred solvent for analyte elution can be used in SPE.  

Additionally, a wider range of solvents can be utilized, such as MS compatible solvents (e.g. methanol) .
