This is a difficult question to answer since every customer's storage or cleaning procedures are different. Let's not add the fact that there are a LOT of different types of columns out there besides Phenomenex.
In general, you can tell customers that at our factory/warehouse, we do not let an HPLC column sit for more than 1 year without retesting.
It is best general practice to TEST your HPLC columns at least annually to make sure there is no degradation.
In many cases, I have seen customers keep columns for several years but that's just my observation.
