A non-retentive method retains and removes unwanted matrix interferences using the SPE sorbent chemistry while the analytes of interest flow through the cartridge with the load fraction.
The SPE cartridge in non-retentive SPE is analogous to a chemical filter. The resulting sample will have a significant amount of matrix effects removed.
Although a non-retentive method is very straight forward and does not require any method development, it does not concentrate your sample.
